Leo XIV Backs Liturgical Program after 'Traditionis Custodes'

Leo XIV has sent a message to Cardinal Arthur Roche, Prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship. The occasion is a meeting at Mount Angel Abbey in Oregon devoted to liturgical formation. Dated June 29, the brief message was published today in the Vatican bulletin.
The text appears to reinforce Cardinal Roche’s recent statement that Leo XIV does not intend to abolish Traditionis Custodes.
Leo XIV calls for respect for “the rites promulgated by Pope Saint Paul VI and Pope Saint John Paul II.” He adds that this respect must spring from “sincere fidelity to ecclesial communion.”
Furthermore, Leo XIV relies heavily on Francis’ 2022 Apostolic Letter Desiderio Desideravi, quoting it several times. That document was closely connected to the post Traditionis Custodes liturgical program and contains a strong defence of the post-Vatican II reform.

Priest Remains at Altar as Earthquake Shakes Bogotá Chapel: A priest remained at the altar as an earthquake struck during the Consecration at a Mass in the Roman rite at the Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bogotá on August 10. The altar server and congregation also remained in place as the church and hanging lamps shook. The Mass continued throughout the tremor.

This is how the priest and faithful attending the Traditional Latin Mass reacted when an earthquake struck in the midst of the Consecration. The footage was recorded at the Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bogotá.

Bishop Questions St. Michael Devotion, Calls for "Exorcism" of Homophobia

Bishop Vicente de Paula Ferreira, 55, of Livramento de Nossa Senhora in Bahia, Brazil, criticized the consecration of dioceses to St. Michael the Archangel.
In an August 8 social-media post, Bishop Ferreira wrote: “Are there theological justifications for consecration to St. Michael? One consecrates oneself to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Isn’t the devil that is being fought rather imaginary? The greater exorcism should be of homophobia, femicide, racism, crimes against Indigenous peoples — of this legion of evils.”
Ferreira’s comments came as dioceses across Brazil have been participating in “The Great Reconquest,” an initiative promoted by the Hesed Institute centered on devotion and consecration to St. Michael. According to ACI Digital, 34 Brazilian dioceses had been consecrated to St. Michael by August 11.

Australian Jury Convicts Bishop Of Sexually Abusing 2 Men

An Australian jury on Thursday convicted a former Catholic bishop renowned for hosting alcohol-fueled house parties of sexually abusing two young Indigenous men. The District Court of Western Australia jury convicted Christopher Saunders, 76, of 13 out of 19 charges of sexual abuse that allegedly occurred between 2008 and 2019 in his sprawling diocese on the country’s tropical northwest coast. Prosecutors alleged he lured young Indigenous men to his church-owned house in the tourist town of Broome with free alcohol and cigarettes paid for with church funds. House rules included that the male-only guests had to remove their shirts. “The accused had a sexual interest in young Aboriginal men and a tendency to act on that interest when the opportunity presented itself,” Prosecutor Adam Ebell had told the court. The convictions included one count of sexual penetration without consent and a dozen indecent assaults. Continue reading at the Associated Press Post Views: 31

Bishop Mutsaerts to Leo XIV: "Impossible to Consider the Synod a Success"

Auxiliary Bishop Rob Mutsaerts of 's-Hertogenbosch wrote on August 13 an open letter to Leo XIV. Main phrases.
- Does the synodal process actually help bring souls closer to Christ and to eternal salvation? […] What has all this actually yielded? Not: how many meetings were organized? Not: how many reports were written? Not: how many people participated? But: has faith become stronger? Has Christ been proclaimed more clearly?
- When one asks such questions, it is impossible to consider the Synod a success.
- What once began as a 2021–2024 synod threatens to become a permanent form of governance.
- The classical synod was a means. In contemporary synodal discourse, synodality threatens to become an end in itself.
- The Church is not a conversation but a received reality. For the Church does not begin with our dialogue. It begins with Christ.
- Christ did not set up a discussion group. He called apostles. He gave them authority. He sent them out to proclaim, baptize, and teach.
- Truth is …കൂടുതൽ

Leo XIV Appoints 🌈-Friendly Personnel: "I Apologize to Homosexuals"

On August 13, Pope Leo XIV appointed Francesco Cesareo, 67, president emeritus of Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts, to the Vatican Committee for Historical Sciences. He was appointed alongside Umberto Longo, who is apparently a Freemason, and Polish historian Anna Barańska.
Cesareo is married and the father of three adult children. From 2007 until 2022, he served as president of Assumption University. He left to live closer to his family and first grandchild and now teaches at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Pennsylvania.

"Umberto Longo" was/is a senior figure in Roman Freemasonry

Did Leo XIV Appoint a Freemason to the Vatican?

On August 13, Leo XIV appointed Umberto Longo, Director of the Italian Historical Institute for the Middle Ages in Rome and Professor of Medieval History at the secular Sapienza University of Rome, as a member of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences.
The online footprint of Umberto Longo repeatedly places that name - and, in later cases, an identifiable Professor Longo - within the institutional environment of Italian Freemasonry and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. The examples span a decade.
2013 - Scottish Rite, Lazio: The Masonic publication LOGOS identifies a certain “Fr. Oratore Umberto Longo 4°” as an officer of the Loggia di Perfezione Maestri Segreti “Giano” in Rome.
The publication introduces a series of texts under the heading: “Le Tavole del Fr. Oratore Umberto Longo 4°.” The abbreviation Fr. is used throughout for Fratello - “Brother” - while the number identifies the Scottish Rite degree. More importantly, the issue contains the official 2013 officers …കൂടുതൽ

Archdiocese Denies Rumours That Cardinal Eijk Plans Resignation

The Archdiocese of Utrecht has rejected as false rumours that Cardinal Willem Eijk, 73, could have asked Pope Leo XIV during an audience on Monday to accept his early resignation as Archbishop.
“These reports are false. He has not offered his resignation,” the archdiocese told the Dutch newspaper Katholiek Nieuwsblad on Wednesday. An archdiocesan spokesman added that there was no basis for such speculation.
The audience attracted attention because Eijk has experienced health problems in recent months and didn't attend the consistories in January and June.
The archdiocese also provided an update on the cardinal’s health. “It is known that Cardinal Eijk struggled with health problems last winter,” the spokesman said. His recovery had taken longer than initially hoped, but was now progressing well.
According to the archdiocese, Eijk is expected to resume his duties fully on September 1.

“Globalism has already failed to meet the needs of the people. It serves only the financial elite,” Marian Eleganti, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Chur, told LaNuovaBq on August 13. On Muslim immigration, he said: “Personally, I am convinced that Islam cannot be integrated into our political systems shaped by Christianity. There is no apolitical Islam, consisting purely of an interior religious life. It is a system of domination. The more convinced its followers are of this, the less integrable it is. The result is parallel societies.” He also criticized the Church’s approach to unlimited immigration: “The Catholic Church should not adopt an idealistic approach… [that] ignores the very real social problems associated with unlimited immigration.”

Bishop Eleganti: Islam poses ‘very serious’ danger to the West

“Globalism has already failed” and the crisis of predominantly Muslim migration is leading to a point of “no return”, Bishop Marian Eleganti has declared. The former auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Chur is one of a handful of prelates who publicly denounces Islam and the concept of modern migration into the West, and has regularly linked the demographic crisis in the West to the crisis of immigration simultaneously affecting Europe. Interviewed recently by La Nuova Bussola Quotidiana, Eleganti warned that the Catholic Church “should not take an idealistic approach on this issue”, outlining that this meant the Church should avoid preaching “a moralism detached from reality, which ignores the concretely existing social problems linked to unlimited immigration and which can only be solved with political common sense.”

Cardinal Raymond Burke delivered a short video message to “those who are "discouraged by the persecution of the traditional Latin mass that is presently going on" (Wdtprs.com, August 13).
The cardinal described the Mass in the Roman rite as "a tremendous good in the Church" that will "never be lost".
"It is for us now even at the cost of suffering to fight for it that it be as available as possible to all the faithful who desire it."

Australian Bishop Convicted of 13 Homosexual Offences

Today, Bishop Emeritus Christopher Saunders, 76, of Broome was convicted of 13 homosexual offences against two young Indigenous men in Western Australia.
A jury in the District Court of Western Australia found Saunders guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual penetration without consent.
The jury acquitted him on six other charges.
The offences for which Saunders was convicted occurred between 2008 and 2019, while he was serving as Bishop of Broome.
Saunders was also convicted of offences against a second man, including sexual penetration without consent.
The jury deliberated for approximately seven hours before returning the verdicts.
Earlier in the trial, the judge instructed the jury that it was not necessary to return verdicts on seven charges and to disregard them because there was insufficient evidence to convict.
Saunders pleaded not guilty to the charges and denied the allegations. He did not give evidence during the trial.
He is due to face a sentencing …കൂടുതൽ
